AMARISSE // SEOUL, KOREA FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and wonderful holiday season! Just stuffed ourselves on an amazing turkey dinner, courtesy of my friend David Kim. Here's a quick preview of a shoot with Amarisse we did a few weeks ago in an abandoned Alice in Wonderland theme park. More on that in the New Year.. ^^

MY FAMILY  //  FIRST YEAR IN KOREA

I am grateful for my wife, Jenny, whose love saves me everyday; without whom I would have been lost to darkness long ago; without whom I simply feel lost.  For my eldest, Justin (Juju), whose fearlessness inspires; whose love is redemptive and forgiving; whose wonder reminds me to be a child sometimes. For little Joel (Joely), whose smile makes me swoon; whose laugh makes me melt; whose curiosity reminds me to slow down.

LEAVING NYC

I've been back in Seoul from my East Coast adventure for about a month already, but I only just picked up 18 rolls of "personal" film from my lab in Chungmuro this week.  We've had a lot going on recently: we moved into a new (3-bedroom!) apartment at the beginning of this month, Jenny finished her job contract and is settling back into the ever-important role of stay-at-home mom, and I've been preparing for my SHIFT/TILT: SEOUL photography workshop, set for this weekend.  Lots of exciting things going on, but these street and personal images from my last few days in NYC were a nice reprieve from juggling so much recently.

Enjoy, and please say "hi".  I know I have many visitors who prefer to stay anonymous, but I'd love for you to leave a comment or question. :)

p.s.  It's our second son Joely's first birthday today!  Happy Birthday Joel!

STORY

It's all about story.  You are not a photographer.  You are a storyteller.  Instead of a pen and notebook, the primary tools of your craft are a camera and your vision.  You are a technician and an artist in one.

I want you to know that you have the capacity to heal hearts and mend souls with your storytelling.  It's one thing to think, "I want to make kick-ass imagery."  It's another thing altogether to think, "I want to create imagery that has the potential to save a troubled marriage."

"Everyone has beautiful stories; not everyone knows how to tell them." - Jesh de Rox

That's where we come in.
